As South Africa’s lockdown regulations ease to level two, online travel company Discover Africa aims to get South African’s exploring again by launching Deals 2 Discover – a travel deal website showcasing Mzansi’s best destinations, properties and experiences at discounted prices.

Deals 2 Discover was created to help kickstart South Africa’s ailing tourism industry, in the wake of a report from Statistics South Africa – which saw the tourist accommodation industry decreased by 98% in May 2020.

A variety of travel experiences, with flexible dates

The online travel deal site gives South Africans the opportunity to stay at accommodation establishments in all nine provinces, even at lodges which usually exclusively target foreign travellers due to their high price points – at a fraction of the cost.

There’s a wide variety of experiences to choose from – beach or safari travel deals to family packages, child-free holidays for parents looking for a quick getaway and more.

Options range from R930 per day renting a fully-equipped motorhome camper (50% off, usually R1,860 per day), through to 66% off the normal price tag for 5-star properties like Mala Mala in the Kruger (R11,800 per room per night, usually R34,500).

Booking a travel deal is easy and flexible as well. Once the voucher is purchased, travellers can request and change their travel dates within the validity period, subject to each deal’s terms and conditions.

Discounts vary from 30% to 70% off. Validity periods are clear on all deals. Some have block-out dates. Users can subscribe to receive a daily deal notification via email.

“We want to get South African’s travelling again”

Andre Van Kets, co-founder of Discover Africa says the main aim behind Deals 2 Discover is to get South African’s exploring once again, which will, in turn, give South Africa’s tourism industry a welcome boost.

“We really want to get all of you out there experiencing nature again and get all of these lodges operating again. Staff are desperate to earn an income, provide for their families and this is the chance for us to do it, and do it responsibly.”
