Your 4x4 Self-Drive Itinerary Through Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe
On this trip, you’ll have the opportunity to explore vast wildernesses across three distinctive landscapes.
Day 1: Kasane
Your journey begins in Kasane, where you’ll collect your fully equipped 4×4 rental. Spend the afternoon exploring Chobe National Park on a self-drive game drive or enjoy an optional sunset cruise on the Chobe River. The park is renowned for its large elephant population, exceptional birdlife, and incredible wildlife viewing.

Day 2: Chobe National Park
Spend another day exploring Chobe National Park at your own pace. Drive along the Chobe Riverfront in search of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and a variety of antelope species. Alternatively, relax at your lodge or enjoy another river cruise before continuing your adventure into Namibia.

Day 3: Zambezi Region
Cross into Namibia via the Ngoma Border Post and travel through the scenic Zambezi Region towards Kongola. This lush landscape of rivers, floodplains, and woodlands forms part of the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area and is known for its abundant birdlife and large populations of elephant and buffalo. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge or join an optional boat cruise on the Kwando River.

Day 4: Nkasa Rupara National Park
Spend the day exploring wetlands, channels, and floodplains of Nkasa Rupara National Park, one of Namibia’s leading wildlife destinations. Part of the vast KAZA Transfrontier Conservation Area, the park offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching, game viewing, and boating along its seasonal waterways.

Day 5: Mahango and Divundu
Travel west through the Zambezi Region to the Mahango Core Area of Bwabwata National Park, one of Namibia’s most diverse wildlife destinations. Situated along the Okavango River, the area is home to elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, numerous antelope species, and an impressive variety of birdlife.

Day 6: Popa Falls
Spend the day exploring the Okavango River around Popa Falls and the nearby Buffalo Core Area. You can relax at the lodge or choose from a variety of optional activities, including a river cruise, birdwatching, fishing, or another self-drive game drive through the nearby Mahango Core Area.

Day 7: Eastern Zambezi Region/Ngoma Border Area
Begin your journey back towards Kasane. Rather than stopping in Kongola again, travel further east through the Zambezi Region past Katima Mulilo towards the Ngoma border. This will position you near the border to allow for a seamless drive the next day. Enjoy the scenic drive along the river floodplains, with opportunities to spot wildlife before spending your final night on the Namibian side.

Day 8: Kasane
You’ll drop off your 4×4 hire in Kasane, Botswana, after crossing back via the Ngoma Border Post and returning to Kasane (a quick 45-minute drive from the Chobe River Camp/Ngoma border area). Spend the afternoon at leisure, enjoying one final game drive in Chobe National Park, or maybe even hop on a sunset cruise along the Chobe River before the final leg of your journey.

Day 9: Victoria Falls
After breakfast, a transfer from Kasane to Victoria Falls will be made available. Here, you’ll have the option of experiencing an array of activities, depending on availability. You have the option of experiencing a sunset cruise on the Zambezi or exploring the wildlife in and around the Victoria Falls National Park.

Day 10: Victoria Falls
After breakfast, continue exploring Victoria Falls on foot. Victoria Falls is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and you’ll soon discover why. This is quite easily the best way to end your Kasane 4×4 rental adventure.
